24 calls – 3 deer: 2 dead Whalebone and Buttercup areas, 1 under a porch; Goldfinch flew into window-ok; 2-3 dogs – referred to PetFind; 2 calls reporting cougar sightings; ducks Pat Burns area – chased by birds and fell down cliff but ok; baby barred owl found cuddled next to dead chick, sent to Errington; injured raven;
eagle recued from Mudge still doing ok and walking in new enclosure
4. Committee Reports
A. GROWLS web site – Gini Green reported on changes: getting it to work better with i devices; patterns of rescues on the site now; reduced the header size so it’s better on phones
B. Rescuers and Drivers Availablility – Jane Giffin has sent out emails to all rescuers and assistants and drivers to gather data on their availability. Will work with Shirley Highfill to come up with a workable format for gathered information
C. Eagle Monitoring – will be going to Mudge to gather data
D. Library Project – Joanna MacKenzie reported that the books will not be put on the shelf until they are in the library system. Discussed having some sort of event when the books are available.
E. GROWLS Shed – 1001 Pat Burns -The walls and floor are in and shelves are framed. The roof needs to go on. Most of the materials were donated. All of the equipment will be stored there.
F. Blackfish showing September – Sigrid Bjarnason discussed GROWLS participating with the Vegeteers to present Blackfish together. It would be by donation. Approved.
G. Oceans Day June 8 and report on SOS Puppet Show – Liz will send out an email regarding Oceans Day. The puppet show at the SOS garage sale did not draw a large crowd but was well received by those there.
H. Deer Committee – Has not been active and will be disbanded
5. Clay Seal Pup – Marcelle Glock will be putting on a workshop at Sunstone Pottery June 15 to make seal pups. Each attendee will get to keep one pup and the rest will be sold as a fundraiser.
