ITEMS:
- Old Business – Minutes of the March meeting were reviewed:
- Oiled Wildlife Society; nothing to report.
- New Business :
- Case Studies; presented by Sheila L. Can be viewed on website;
- Earth Day; posters will be placed around the island; conducted walk will take place at The Small Species Sanctuary at 2p.m. Advertising needed; Liz might be at The Village in the morning to capture pictures of “green” shopping bags used by islanders.
- Beached Bird Survey Guided Walk; will take place at Drumbeg Park on May 1st.
- Salmon Boards; Liz has wooden cutouts of salmon available for members to decorate/ place in yards in support of “Salmon Are Sacred”.
- Rescue Kit; Disposable gloves are needed, Sheila L. to obtain. Liz will offer a review of rescue protocols in the near future.
- Screen and Projector; Liz will apply for a grant to buy a screen and projector in support of community education.
- Island Veterinary Hospital; Dr. Langelier sent Liz a letter offering his clinic’s continued services for wildlife assessment. Telephone contact numbers were included.
- Answering The Call of the Wild; a book to help hotline/pager people field wildlife queries has been ordered for GROWLS.
- Mountainaire; GROWLS will donate $500 to support the work at MARS.
- IWNCC Saltspring; has received a $1000 donation from GROWLS
- GROWLS History; DVD copies of GROWLS history recently compiled and presented by Liz and Jill will be made available for members and supporters.
